Client Advocates are just “nice people” who are willing to spend some time showing God’s love to those in need, by walking with them step-by-step and personally connecting them with the various ministries and resources in our community. Advocates have the blessing of being able to build true relationships with clients. These relationships can also become excellent opportunities to share your faith, and help bring the client into a caring church community.

Our goal is to have dozens of client advocates available, so we can assign an advocate to each person who calls our HelpLine.  As a client advocate, you might meet a client to give them a grocery card and then go shopping with them, helping them make wise choices in selecting their food.  Or you may give them a ride and accompany them into a social services office, or into a food or clothing pantry.  Or you may want to arrange to take them out for coffee just to provide a listening ear.  The hope is that you will continue to maintain contact with the client on a weekly basis for several months or more, perhaps even building a lasting supportive relationship that would encourage the person to become a part of a church fellowship in their community.
